De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) is a public university in the city of Leicester, England. It was established in accordance with the Further and Higher Education Act in 1992 as a degree awarding body. The name De Montfort University was taken from Simon de Montfort, a 13th-century Earl of Leicester credited with establishing the first Parliament of England in 1265.

De Montfort University has approximately 27,000 full and part-time students, 3,240 staff and an annual turnover in the region of £168 million. The university is organised into four faculties: Art, Design, and Humanities (ADH); Business and Law (BAL); Health and Life Sciences (H&LS); and Computing, Engineering and Media (CEM). It is a Sustainable Development Hub, focusing on Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, an initiative by the United Nations launched in 2018. The Department of Education awarded university a Gold rating in the 2017 Teaching Excellence Framework. It is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Access Scholarship

£1,000 cash per year. The Access to Higher Education Scholarship is available if you are accepted onto a course with an Access to HE qualification (where it is an entry requirement for the course)

Postgraduate Alumni Scholarship

Our dedicated Postgraduate Alumni Scholarship provides De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) graduates with a tuition fee discount of up to 30 per cent. The discount is available on selected full-time and part-time postgraduate taught courses running across multiple start dates in the 2021/22 academic session, with the first intake in September 2021.

The scholarship, based on academic achievement and merit, applies automatically to all DMU UK, EU and international students who are graduating in 2021 or have graduated within the last five years (2017 onwards). Students who achieved a 2:1 or above will receive a fee discount of 30 per cent, while all remaining students who are offered a place on a DMU course will be eligible for a fee discount of 20 per cent. The scholarship is applicable to DMU students progressing from undergraduate to postgraduate taught study, or students progressing through our transnational education partners to postgraduate study in the UK.

Sustainability Scholarship

Value: £4,000

Postgraduate study at DMU empowers our students to make a positive difference to society in their future careers and as global citizens. For our international students, this experience can provide the skills, confidence and connections to tackle sustainability challenges back in their home countries, in the UK or elsewhere.

This scholarship is available outstanding students and aims to support high-calibre students to come to DMU and develop the skills they need to make a difference.

Eligible recipients should be domiciled outside the UK, and have an offer of admission for any full time one-year postgraduate taught programme. The award of this scholarship is through an application and selection process.

High Achievers Scholarship

Value: Two different scholarships at £5,000 or a Full fee wavier are available to prospective International students.

De Montfort University is pleased to announce the High Achievers Scholarship to international students studying a full-time undergraduate course only. The scholarship will be assigned as a course fee reduction or a full fee waiver, for those international fee-paying students who wish to study with us during the 2021/2022 session.

These are available to international students who have excelled academically in their high school or equivalent studies and have an offer of admission for one of our full-time undergraduate programmes.

Undergraduate

  1. A Levels - 104 to 136 UCAS points from minimum 2 A Levels (may require certain subject grades)
  2. IB – 24 to 32 points (may require subject grades at HL)
  3. 55% in accepted UK based foundation programme with no module below 50%

2nd year - 3rd year Undergraduate:

  1. Entry to year 2 or 3 may be possible. You will need to supply detailed information including courses taken, grades achieved, syllabus and a grading guide.

If English is not your first language, you will be required to provide an IELTS certificate, or equivalent. Our undergraduate IELTS requirements are:

  1. IELTS 6.0 for Art and Design, Business, Computing and Engineering courses
  2. IELTS 6.5 for Law courses
  3. IELTS 6.0-6.5 for Humanities and Media courses
  4. IELTS 6.5-7.5 for Science courses

Postgraduate taught

4 year Bachelor degree from a good recognised university with a minimum of 60% or GPA 3.0/4.0

If English is not your first language, you will be required to provide an IELTS certificate, or equivalent. Our postgraduate IELTS requirements are:

  1. IELTS 6.0 for Business and Computing courses
  2. IELTS 6.0-6.5 for Art, Design and Engineering courses
  3. IELTS 6.5 for Humanities, Media, Law and Science courses
